In canon, Terezi associates people's typing quirks (and presumably would do this in person with people whose text she hasn't seen) with certain flavors. To avoid stepping on any toes, please tell me which flavor you'd like her to associate with her character!

Terezi is also very, very good at reading people- it's part of her role in canon. But I can't really fulfill this without some information. I can pick up on cues in tags myself, but if there's any particular quirk or traits that would stand out or that you would like noticed, please let me know.

Just drop me a comment here with this info:

smellyoudie: (unsettle the coolkid (dave))

Things are a little bumpy since they met in Meridian. Terezi still doesn't know where they stands, and Karkat doesn't want to talk about it, ranting for awhile about Dave instead before they decided to stop talking about it. He still won't be emotionally open with her, and while she's got some lingering feelings for him, she gets the feeling that whatever they might have had is might be done. But he's still her friend, and her leader, and she hasn't ceased to care about him even if he's being an insensitive and insecure ass about some things.

KARKAT VANTAS

Before Meridian Terezi neither disliked nor was deeply fond of Kanaya. She's a bit too serious and not interested in games or roleplaying (even if potentially fun to troll). But Terezi's come to appreciate her clear, rational thought and calm bearing here, particularly in contrast to the high emotions of Karkat and Gamzee, and she could see herself potentially relying on the other girl more in carrying out her investigations.

KANAYA MARYAM

Terezi has always found Gamzee a little weird, but now he's even weird. Sometimes he's his usual incomprehensible self, but sometimes he's startlingly clear-headed, and not in a good way. Coupled with the surprising creepiness and seriousness of his interrogation, and she's definitely keeping an eye on him. She'll get to the bottom of this.

GAMZEE MAKARA

So serious! He also seems to fancy himself some kind of detective- he talked to Terezi about evidence and she has thus christened him Inspector Mistyhair. Perhaps he'll be useful in investigations, or perhaps she'll just troll him. It's too early to tell.

SOUJI SETA

Weird human who smells like blood. She met him while he was picking up coins and pretending he wasn't looking at people, so of course she promptly called him on it. They then spent the entire conversation staring at each other and almost measuring each other up. He's interesting. She wouldn't ever trust him. She'll be watching him.

BEYOND BIRTHDAY

He smells sooooo goooood. He can also project part of his subconscious as a separate entity, and Terezi surprised him by knowing it was there. She likes him, if only because he's the first human she met that came in a different flavor. Then she trolled him with her knowledge of Tiri, and put him on edge and refused to explain herself. She thinks he'll be very interesting, and she'll be definitely coming back to troll him again.

CHARACTER INFO
Name: Terezi Pyrope
Age: 13 years old / 6 solar sweeps
Species: Troll

Series: Homestuck
OU/AU: OU
Canon Point: After the trolls arrive in the Veil and Terezi sets off to confront Vriska, just after talking to Dave about it
History:History here.

Personality: Out of all of the trolls, Terezi is possibly the most coy of all of them, but also the most manipulative. Not coy in the sense that she's modest, or shy, because Terezi is neither of those things- she can be entirely unsettling in just how direct she can be- but coy in the sense that even when she's trying to be helpful, she's always withholding details and pulling strings in some way. This doesn't always exactly go over well with the people she's trying to help, such as when she attempts to show Dave how to achieve the highest level possible in the game (God Tier) by setting up an entire scenario wherein one Dave, doomed to be part of an offshoot as a result of Dave's decision to want to know how to achieve God Tier, ends up...doomed to die, one way or another, which Dave doesn't take very well- rather than just telling Dave he would have to confront his own death in some way. This leads to her having to clarify sometimes when she's actually being serious and sincere about her statements, rather than stepping around a topic in some way.

Despite that, Terezi can be very helpful and friendly in her own way, and she does genuinely care for her friends, and she has very definite standards for what is and is not acceptable, although this doesn't keep her from being morbid and somewhat sociopathic herself. She very casually mentions that if she ever met John, she'd kill him, with no indication as to whether she meant it sincerely or as a joke, and she has no problems with killing people as long as it's for "justice." At the same time, she does say that she feels bad about accidentally getting him killed (since, from her perspective, she could see that he didn't die, which more or less meant it was an experiment on her part and she never truly intended to orchestrate his death), and later helps him in a more productive way by providing him with a map to the correct game objection. She does do her best to help Dave (while trolling him, of course, and making jokes about his coolkid status via art) and is genuinely distraught when the doomed Dave she set up to die gets murdered right before her eyes. She also wasn't too happy about Vriska manipulating Tavros, who she'd considered a friend, into jumping off a cliff during one of their roleplaying sessions, which led her to cut ties with her former friend and take revenge on Vriska. And of course, her trying to help doesn't stop her from being insulting at times to the people she's trying to help, or keep her from mocking them, although alternatively she can be so friendly as to border on the flirtatious, particularly at times with Dave, a fact other people (namely Karkat) are quick to point out. Karkat's also quick to point out that she's also trying to manipulate Dave even as she helps him.

Terezi, as is probably appropriate for the troll who carries the symbol of Libra, has a great fondness for justice, which is rather different on Alternia than it is on Earth (there are no defense attorneys, for example, only prosecutors) and seems to be fascinated by the idea of punishing bad guys- but only bad guys. Those guys, she's perfectly okay with offing, but she expresses disagreement with Vriska's tendency to just off anyone she could to feed her giant spider lusus/custodian, rather than people who have actually committed any crime. This fascination has led her to take an interest in courtroom dramas and investigations, which leads her to carry around the necessary items to carry out an investigation at any point in time. She's also very fond of dragons and carries around a bunch of dragon plushies called Scalemates (which she also uses in her courtroom dramas and her investigations, either as the victims which she sends to the gallows, or members of her forensics teams). Predictably, some of these habits are used to troll and annoy her friends, such as pretending that she thinks the scalemates are alive.

Since Vriska caused her to be blind, through a series of physic manipulations that caused her look directly into the sun while sleepwalking (revenge for her eye and arm), Terezi has moved through the world with the help of a cane and with the skills taught to her by her dragon lusus/custodian, which means that she is fully capable of smelling and tasting color in place of seeing the the world. This has led to some interesting and unsettling remarks on her part, as she constantly remarks on what things smell/taste like and has definite preferences for some colors, most notably red. Terezi really, really loves red. Some people get a little weirded out by the idea that she has to lick her computer screen to better "see" things, which she seems perfectly okay with it. However, she really has no problem with being blind and even thanks Vriska for it, as her accident was what caused her lusus to finally communicate with her.

Unlike many trolls, Terezi doesn't seem to pay much attention to the hemospectrum, the caste system among troll society based on one's blood color. Hers happens to be teal, which falls somewhere in the upper middle of the spectrum but isn't anything as great as having blue or purple blood. She has no problem befriending trolls lower than her on the spectrum, as evidenced by the way she casually roleplays with Nepeta (green) and her friendly relations with both Sollux (yellow) and Karkat (mutant red). While she expresses interest in people's blood colors, particularly Karkat's mutant bright cherry red, it doesn't seem to bother her at all, and likely her interest in it most has to do with her interest in colors- though rating Sollux's as "icky mustard" hasn't stopped her from being friendly with him.

Finally, though she's often been helpful to the human protagonists and friendly even with other trolls, Terezi does have a deeply morbid streak in her, and acts in ways at times that border on sociopathic. She frequently hangs her Scalemates at the end of all her courtroom dramas, resulting in a bunch of dragon plushies hanging from nooses all around her house. Rather than telling Dave he'd have to confront his death to reach God Tier, she chooses to show him, and she casually throws around threats of death when she first talks to John. She has no problem killing people or punishing them in her question to "orchestrate the demise of the wicked" and has absolutely no problems manipulating people to their deaths (which she used to do frequently in her roleplaying/FLARP sessions with Vriska) or manipulating them in general, even those she's friendly with.

Powers: -Terezi is particularly adept at using her cane as a weapon, which, depending on which one she uses, either functions as a spear or a segmented nunchuck-looking weapon to wallop things with, or contains two swords that she's capable of wielding at the same time.
- Terezi is very good at figuring out ways to manipulate people to do what she wants them to do, a particularly apt skill for her role in the game as the Seer of Mind. As the Seer of Mind, she describes herself as being capable of understanding the realities people would create if their thoughts lead to actions. This allows her to understand what people would do and the choices they would make "if [their] thoughts lead to action", although it is difficult to say if this is an actual power bestowed by the game (since she is careful to clarify that she isn't psychic, but does refer to it as a kind of "sight") or simply the product of her being very good at understanding people and what they might do already.
- The ability to smell/taste colors as a second kind of "sight' to replace her blindness. She also claims to be able to smell deceit.
Weaknesses: In a way, Terezi's blindness is a weakness as well as providing her with unique strengths. Her ability to see/smell color seems to be limited to closer distances without the help of her Smelloscope, as evidenced by the way she needs to use a cane to get around and needs to lick her computer screen to more clearly see things.
Possessions: A box of colored chalk, a few Scalemates in assorted colors, some powder for dusting for prints, a coin with a scratch on one side, a Smelloscope (a telescope-like device that allows Terezi to "smell" things at a great distance and thus detect them), a pair of red glasses, a teal and red roleplaying costume, and her dragon cane, which contains two swords within it at either end.
Marking Location: On her tongue.
Miscellaneous: - Terezi's eyes are completely red, as a result of staring into the sun and going blind.
- When typing, Terezi M4K3S L1B3R4L US3 OF TH3 T34L C4PSLOCK 4S W3LL 4S L33TSP34K 4ND SM1L13S >:], as 413 are the numerals of the blind prophets and teal is the color of her blood.
- Terezi's glasses can also function as a computer, or have in the past functioned as a computer, which she would often need to lick to "see" the conversation better.
- She is very good (or bad) at shitty jpeg, hideously colored art.

First Person:
[It's not often that Terezi looks quite so strict. But today her mouth is drawn in a straight line of unwavering disapproval, with nary a sign of her usual shark's grin and hyena cackle.]

This is all very suspicious! No elected official should know that little about the city he's supposed to be looking after. It stinks of lies and a poorly-executed cover-up, practically dripping off of every stuttered syllable.

[Her lips purse thoughtfully.]

But is it your typical mediocre, poorly-planned conspiracy...or a serious breach of justice? A kidnapping on this scale is surely highly illegal.

[And then she starts to grin, just a small curling of the lips, with a flash of teeth behind them.]

At the very least concealing information from the prosecution is wrong-doing enough to merit an interrogation. Maybe I ought to question Mr. Oniony Stumbletongue a little more forcefully.

Third Person:
Terezi had a lot of feelings about the wall.

The fact that it was there was more or less a constant annoyance, particular the way it impeded her in her investigations. With more or less nothing else to do and no imminent threat hanging over her head, she occupied her time trying to get to the bottom of this strange city, and having a wall that kept her from half her potential evidence was just unacceptable! An obstruction to justice! One mere wall should never be enough to stop a true legislacerator.

And yet it was. It tolerated all her attempts to do anything to it with the same stoic unthinking behavior as any other wall- it simply did nothing at all. She licked it until her tongue was coated with grit, filling her senses with earthy dirt brown and dull grey, probing it with her tongue until she finally gave up, frustrated and irritated that it seemed to be nothing more than a wall.

She came back the next day with a grappling hook made from some kind of frame that she'd beaten into place with a rock. It was crude, but she knew it would be effective; Terezi had tested its abilities by using it to scale from the ground to the third floor of a building (she'd counted the stairs coming down). Although she couldn't sniff out just how high it was, she was certain she had enough rope and enough strength to get it as far into the air as she needed to- and if she didn't, she could surely figure out what she needed to make the climb.

Four hours later and Terezi was sticky-sweaty and no closer to getting over than she was the day before.

"You're very stubborn, Officer Wall," she told it, pretending for just a moment that it was a subject under questioning in one of her courtroom dramas (it helped her calm down, feel more in control, just a little). "But I will make you confess."

It continued to resist spilling its secrets under the force of her interrogation, which included the use of such tools as a ladder, a bigger and longer grappling hook, more licking, and even the homemade bomb she'd been able to cobble together by scenting out the most flammable materials she could find scrounging around the city. Clearly somebody wanted her to stay here, and that level of obfuscation only made Terezi Pyrope more determined to pursue justice and get past it.

When she got bored, which wasn't often, she forced it to endure her chalk scribblings. She played out courtblock dramas and sketched awful pictures with porkchop mouths in grey and white and red, all along the scratchy surface as she tried to find just where it ended. Her search proved fruitless, as ever, but at least she got some masterpieces finished. Dave would appreciate them, if he could see.

But she didn't give up. She would never give up. This wall might be the only thing that stood between her and a crucial piece of evidence that would let her crack the case and find the culprit and bring him to justice, and Terezi could not let it stand. It shouldn't be able to stand like this, it shouldn't be able to block her way, and it baffled her. She couldn't let it be. Someone would break first, her or the wall, before she stopped trying to get to the bottom of this.

A legislacerator never gives up the chase.

[OOC]
This is the permissions list for OOC (out of character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired.

1). Backtagging: Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
2). Threadhopping: Sure!
3). Fourthwalling: Feel free!
4). Offensive subjects (elaborate): I typically have no particular issue with having characters confront mine with offensive subjects; it's usually bound to come up sometime and it makes for a good thread. So feel free the drop some heavy bombs once in awhile. If I don't feel comfortable, I will instantly let you know, but that's usually a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of occurrence.

[IC]
This is the permissions list for IC (in-character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired. With IC permissions, it's a good idea to elaborate on what other players can expect from your character if they choose to do any of the following:

1). Hugging this character: Feel free. Although trolls aren't, as a culture, particularly touchy, so she might be a bit surprised at first...and then probably just hug back.
2). Kissing this character: Yes. Although she's 13, and she also has this thing about licking to taste colors, and trying to weird people out, so be warned.
3). Flirting with this character: Yes. Although she's 13. She might morbidly flirt back.
4). Fighting with this character: Yes, although we'd have to talk it out beforehand, because Terezi is 1) blind, and 2) apparently super competent at fighting, and fully prepared to be a sneaky underhanded manipulator about everything, so logistics could get tricky.
5). Injuring this character (include limits and severity): I don't mind, as long as we talk it out first. Except her to be very insincerely "How could you do that to a blind girl" about it, though.
6). Killing this character: Possibly! I am not adverse to the idea, but it would require some discussion.
7). Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Terezi is canonically immune to a canonmate's mind reading/mind control/telepathy abilities in canon. I'm willing to fudge that if necessary for people outside canon, since maybe it's not the same! It could be very interesting. But she would be pretty resistant to it and possibly with her Seer of Mind powers aware that it was taking place.

SEER OF MIND
This is a little bit tricky, and please don't hesitate to ask about it if this doesn't make sense. As the Seer of Mind, Terezi describes herself as being capable of understanding the sort of realities people create with their thoughts, and what they would do if their thoughts led to actions. This is, as she claims it, what allows her to keep her friends out of trouble and bring evil-doers to justice! This is mostly, at least as I see it, her being very good at reading people and thus predicting what they'll probably do. However, this isn't a completely infallible skill- she's capable of being misled by false evidence and drawing wrong conclusions, and I will always, always ask before she starts doing something like this to minimize any possibility of godmodding or infomodding of any sort.

COLORS
To compensate for her blindness, Terezi's guardian taught her how to smell and taste color as a way of getting around the world. While she is fully blind, she's usually able to sense the world around her through these means, which means she's often licking stuff or coloring it in bright colors to help her "see" better. It also means she can sniff other people out and will probably identify them primarily by the colors she smells. She's particularly fond of red.

TROLL RELATIONSHIPS
Trolls have weird ways of looking at relationships with people, which is loaded with complex terminology and jargon. Terezi will be okay with explaining, should it come up, but I understand this sort of canon-loaded info-dumping can get heavy and boring, so feel free to request that it gets glossed over or toned down at any time.

If you're curious, this article explains the whole thing fairly succinctly.

TEXT
I'm not sure how much of a problem this may be or how much this will come up at the moment! However, I'm aware that Homestuck typing quirks- and Terezi's in particular- can be very difficult for other players, which is why it has its own separate, screened post. Feel free to drop me a line at any time if you don't want me to use her quirk in a text post with your character.

Name: Terezi Pyrope
Age: 13
Canon: Homestuck
Canon Point:

History: Far away in another universe, on the planet Alternia, twelve children of an alien race of trolls played a very dangerous, complex and somewhat confusing game they called Sgrub.. Terezi is one of those trolls, originally the leader of one of two teams intended to compete against each other over who can win the game first, who then ceded her position in the face of whining from a friend. Although much of the troll's session of the game Sburb (which they called Sgrub) reminds unknown to the reader, Terezi was present throughout the entire game and survived to the very end, meaning she was there when everything went to hell in a handbasket as two sessions of the game collided and the trolls were forced into hiding.

Since then, Terezi has been lurking in the Veil, a series of meteors that play an instrumental part in the game mechanics, and has been "trolling" the human protagonists of the other session of the game, the one that ruined her own. Her influence has ranged from antagonistic and even somewhat sociopathic, such as convincing John Egbert to cheat and skip ahead to a point in the game he wasn't prepared to handle, and thus getting him killed in an offshoot timeline, to providing Rose with some information about game mechanics to helping Dave manage his time loops and guiding him through his portion of the game.

Extended history here.

Personality:
Out of all of the trolls, Terezi is possibly the most coy of all of them, but also the most manipulative. Not coy in the sense that she's modest, or shy, because Terezi is neither of those things- she can be entirely unsettling in just how direct she can be- but coy in the sense that even when she's trying to be helpful, she's always withholding details and pulling strings in some way. Abilities:
Powers: As taught to her by her dragon custodian, Terezi is capable of smelling/tasting colors, and also less physical things like deceit, a skill which she uses in place of her sight.
Physical Abilities: Terezi is particularly adept at using her cane as a weapon, which, depending on which one she uses, either functions as a spear or a segmented nunchuck-looking weapon to wallop things with, or contains two swords that she's capable of wielding at the same time.

Ability Limitations: In a way, Terezi's blindness already limits her considerably, and her ability to see/smell color seems to be limited to closer distances without the help of her Smelloscope, as evidenced by the way she needs to use a cane to get around and needs to lick her computer screen to more clearly "see"/taste things. However, she won't be able to smell things like deceit anymore.

Weapon:
Name: Dragon Cane (never specifically given a name in canon)
Description: A cane with a red dragon head for a handle, used either as the walking cane Terezi has used since she was blinded or as a weapon. Contained inside it are two swords, one at either end of the cane, which she can use to fight with.
Abilities/Powers Neither the cane nor the swords have any special powers. They are just a cane, and swords.
Limitations: As these are only ordinary weapons, it's fully possible that they could, with enough force, be broken, or at the very least taken from her if she were overpowered.
Miscellaneous Items: A box of colored chalk, a few Scalemates in assorted colors, some powder for dusting for prints, a coin with a scratch on one side, a pair of red glasses and a teal and red roleplaying costume.
Appearance: As a young troll, Terezi is about 5'3", with gray skin, black hair and lips (with black lipstick), pointed teeth, and conical horns. Her eyes are also completely red as a result of the accident that blinded her. She typically wears a black T-shirt with the sign of Libra in teal, black pants, and bright red glasses.

In a human form, Terezi is about 5'3", with black hair, and completely white eyes as a result of being blind. She's pale skinned/Caucasian in appearance, and tends to indulge in black lipstick if she can, just the way she did back home.

Third Person Sample:

Terezi knew what death smelled like in many forms. She'd had the chance to sample the bouquet of scents it offered more than once- she knew how it smelled when someone had been fed to a giant spider and how it smelled when someone exploded into little bits and pieces of brightly colored grist and how fresh blood smelled on the floor after a murder. This wasn't any of those scents. This was different, like things left to lie out in the open exposed to the elements, pummeled by rain and nibbled at by the creatures that lived in the dirt just waiting for a meal.

She wasn't disconcerted to smell it when she woke up. She just didn't understand why. It required investigation.

With her cane conveniently close at hand, she proceeding to give the room a thorough examination. It only took a minute of searching to conclusively determine that this wasn't anything like the lab on the meteor she'd come from- the quality of the drab gray pavement smell was entirely different from the numerous metallic surfaces, and when she experimentally licked one of the walls, it was more like dirt than the sharp iron back at home. The cane made a different sound on the floor and the walls than it did back in the Veil. And the room was just small, which was unusual for the lab. Careful examination of one revealed it to not be a chest, but a small wooden box, with GRENADES printed on the side in bright licorice letters.

This was troubling.

More than a little troubling, really, because Terezi wasn't sure where exactly she was or what was going on. In theory this could just be another part of the meteor she hadn't explored yet, but that still raised uncomfortable question of where it was or how she got there. Vriska? Entirely possible, she supposed...but that raised the question of why, and when she tried to puzzle that out, there really was no reason for Vriska to just leave her in a room somewhere. At least not without waiting around to gloat about it as soon as she woke up.

Vriska probably wasn't an explanation for the noises from outside the room, either. Vriska never made noises like that.

The smell of rot and sickness hit her like a punch to the nose as she opened the door, dangerously close. Close enough that she felt fully justified in drawing the swords out of her cane, because every troll on Alternia knew that undead beings came out during the day. She'd never seen one of those beings, but she trusted that her nose knew exactly what they were.

Hacking and slashing at the rotted bodies, Terezi started to make her way out. To find Vriska, or at least some clue she could use. Whatever was going on here, Terezi Pyrope would sniff out the truth! Which hopefully would smell a lot better than the rest of this place. It would be nice at least if she could find some colors that didn't smell so yucky. Maybe she'd have to color with her chalk, later, give herself a break from all this mud and dirt and rot.

She even started to grin, walloping the last zombie casually on the head with her cane as she sheathed her swords. "Hehehehe-" And then she stopped. Poked her tongue around her mouth.

Why did she have flat teeth?
